Modern Warfare 2 Map Pack Coming on March 30
The Twitter feed of Robert Bowling, the creative
strategist at developer Infinity Ward, seems to be suggesting that the
first Map Pack forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2should arrive on the Xbox 360 home gaming console from Microsoft on
March 30, with versions for the PC and the PlayStation 3 from Sony set
to be delivered at a later, unannounced time.
On a Twitter message he wrote, "Feeling the effects of Mapathy?
It's okay, the cure is hitting #Xboxlive in just 3 short weeks. #MW2.”
The
describes the feeling of more than 20 million gamers who are forced to
always get their multiplayer games going on the same old maps, which
shipped in 2009 with Modern Warfare 2 and says that a remedy will be
delivered at the end of March.
They have not stated how many new maps will be included in the first map pack
and Infinity Ward has not mentioned any price point, although something
along the line of 9.99 dollars is to be expected. The new DLC will
probably be an instant hit, with the packs launched for Call of Duty:
World at War each managing to move more than 1 million units.
It
seems that no less than 25 million people now own Modern Warfare 2,
most of them being interested in the multiplayer side of the
experience. The announcement of the Map Pack was overshadowed by last
week’s events, which involved Infinity Ward, Activision Blizzard and two of the main men behind the franchise, Jason West and Vince Zampella.
The
two were fired from the development studio and are now suing their
former publisher for damages. Activision Blizzard has also announced
that Sledgehammer Games, a studio made up of former Electronic Arts
employees who worked on Dead Space, will be coming in to create a game
in the Call of Duty franchise.
